ZTE, TMI to Build Joint Lab on Next-g Broadband Technologies


(Sinocast Telecommunications Beat (China) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) BEIJING, July 24, SinoCast -- During China Chairman Xi Jinping's visit to Brazil, ZTE and TIM, a Brazil subsidiary of Telecom Italia signed a framework agreement on building UWB and a joint lab or innovation center for TIM.



According to the agreement, they will make an investment in UWB construction and create a joint lab or innovation center to jointly research and develop XGPON, NGPON2, G.Fast and other latest fixed-line broadband technologies within the following three years.

TIM, Brazil's second largest mobile operator, is headquartered in Rio de Janeiro. s Its network covers approximately 3400 cities and 95% and 95% of the urban population.


Early 2014, ZTE participated in the TIM's bid for UWB site construction. This May, TIM conducted further consultations with ZTE and invited ZTM to become a partner of its UWB project brand Live TIM.
