Brazil : BRL 48 Mln invested by Oi in Mato Grosso in H1 [TendersInfo (India)]


(TendersInfo (India) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Brazilian telecom operator Oi spend in BRL 48 Million in the state of Mato Grosso in the first half, an increase of 10 % from the year ago.

The operator is prioritizing investment in telecom networks that is operations, engineering and IT, to advance the quality of service to clients in all regions. In the second half, Oi advanced with the construction of a 470 km stretch of fibre optic network between Alta Floresta and Juina.



The network connects the municipalities of Nova Monte Verde, Juruena and Castanheira and form an optical ring to guard the telecom network serving the entire region reaching the municipalities of Sinop, Alta Floresta and Lucas do Rio Verde.

Oi as a result of the investments in July reached the leadership in the fixed broadband segment in the state, with a 58 % market share and 152,000 customers, as per to Anatel.


Oi in the first half has installed over 9,000 broadband accesses in the state, nine new 2G and 3G sites, and 13 4G sites. Oi has coverage of 99 municipalities in Mato Grosso. It in addition registered a 62 percent growth with its Oi WiFi network in the state and has over 17,000 access points. Oi in addition saw a 12 % growth in the pay-TV market in Mato Grosso compared to first half.
