Mexico's Car-sa Deploys AOptix Intellimax to Extend Fiber CoreCAMPBELL, Calif. --(Business Wire)-- AOptix (www.aoptix.com), a pioneer in ultra-high capacity wireless communications, today announced that Car-sa, a Mexico-based alternative carrier, has successfully deployed the AOptix Intellimax wireless transport product at the Universidad Autonoma de Nuevo Leon (UANL) in Monterrey to replace lower-capacity wireless connections. Car-sa's AOptix link is the first of several links to be deployed throughout Mexico, delivering high capacity connectivity to places where fiber is not possible or economically feasible. Car-sa's customers will include Mexico's major communications service providers, mobile network operators, and large enterprises. The high capacity wireless transport will be used for a wide range of applications including mobile backhaul, data center connectivity, replacement of legacy microwave radios, and fiber back-up links. Car-sa will also use the AOptix Intellimax links to offer Broadband As A Service to large enterprises and educational institutions, such as UANL for video-on-demand classes between campuses. "The need for mor bandwidth and greater coverage continues to surge, and as we extend our core networks, it is increasingly impractical to deploy fiber. In some cases that's due to complications getting the needed approvals and permits and in other cases because it simply does not make economic sense," said Pedro Noriega, the CEO of Car-sa. Also, high bandwidth services can be very expensive in some cases. "The AOptix Intellimax can be rapidly deployed and delivers high bandwidth just about anywhere, economically. As for availability, the first day our first Intellimax link was deployed, one of the biggest rainstorms in recent memory hit Monterrey-Intellimax maintained 100 percent uptime through the three day downpour, while the university's existing 23 GHz microwave link was knocked off line." The AOptix Intellimax is a high-capacity wireless transport product that delivers fiber-like performance, offering the greatest capacity of any wireless networking technology on the market. Based on Composite Optical-RF (COR) technology, it is capable of delivering 2 Gbps constant data rate with carrier-grade availability, at distances up to 8 kilometers in a single hop, or virtually unlimited distances in repeater configuration.
