Daly House Museum is proudly hosting an Antiques Roadshow Fundraiser at the museum until 5 p.m. Proceeds to support the museum's current collection of photographs, documents and artifacts and will help to better preserve and share those items with future generations. Heirlooms will be appraised by local expert Terry Smith. There is a small fee of $7 per item or three items for $20. There are a limited number of time slots available, so please call the museum at 204-727-1722 as early as possible to reserve yours.



* 6 p.m. -- Come out to the Grim Acres Scare Away Cancer Halloween Yard Haunt Fundraiser at 1002 Russell Street until 9 p.m. This year's event will be bigger, better with even more props and thrills. Be prepared to be scared! All proceeds go to the Canadian Cancer Society. For more information, visit grimacres.ca.

* 5 p.m. -- CFB Shilo's Haunted House is held today in Building L-25. Free for all ages. No scare hour is 5 p.m.-6 p.m. Scare hours from 6 p.m.-8 p.m. You will need to show a driver's licence to get onto the base.


* 6 p.m. -- The Big Brothers and Sisters Haunted Forest will be held at Turtle Crossing until 9 p.m. Weather permitting. Cost is $5. No scare until 7 p.m.

* 7:30 p.m. -- Brandon University Symphonic Band featuring musicians from across Western Manitoba with Dr. Wendy McCallum, conductor, will take place at Western Manitoba Centennial Auditorium. Adults $10; seniors/students $8.

Friday, Oct. 31 * 9:30 a.m. -- Brandon Farmer's Marketis open inside the Town Centre until 4 p.m. every Friday. Local products include produce, baking, canning, jams and jellies, honey, perogies, noodles, crafts and much more.

Sunday, Nov. 2 * 10 a.m. -- The 41st Original Christmas Craft Sale will be held at the Royal Oak Inn until 4 p.m. featuring the work of some of the area's most talented craftspeople and artists. All proceeds from the silver collection and profits from table rentals are donated to Christmas Cheer. Door prizes and draws made throughout the day.

* 10 a.m. -- Roseland South-Brandon 4-H Club is hosting their third annual ladies shopping day until 3 p.m. at the Roseland South-Brandon Community Centre (one mile south of Brandon and four and a half miles west on Glencarnock Road). * The Royal Canadian Artillery Museum at CFB Shilo -- Come and see our First World War exhibit commemorating the 100th anniversary of the First World War as well as the 100th anniversary of Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry (PPCLI). Our Gun Park is open year-round with 28 guns and vehicles on display with interpretive panels. Dress for the weather as it is an outdoor display. * The Daly House Museum -- Original home of Brandon's first mayor, Thomas Mayne Daly, which was built in 1882 and is the only period museum in western Manitoba. Ordinary citizens of Brandon who were heroes at home during the First World War are commemorated in the exhibit, "Every Citizen a Soldier." * The Commonwealth Air Training Plan Museum -- Hours are 1 p.m.-4 p.m, seven days a week. The museum is Canada's only air museum solely dedicated to the preservation of the history of those who trained and fought for the British Commonwealth during the Second World War. Check out our newly unveiled RCAF Second World War Memorial, a black granite wall approximately 300 feet in length containing the names of more than 19,000 fatalities, with a larger-than-life bronze statue representing the fallen.

* The Brandon General Museum and Archives -- On the ground floor of the old Manitoba Telephone building at 19 Ninth St. Hours: Tuesday to Saturday, 1 p.m.-4 p.m. On display is a new exhibit showcasing Manitoba Telecom Services' history.

* The Tommy McLeod Curve Gallery -- Is located in the John E. Robbins Library at Brandon University. Hours are Monday to Thursday, 8 a.m.-11 p.m.; Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday, 1 p.m.-5 p.m. On display is "Brandon College and the Great War" until Dec. 31. This is the untold stories of the men and women from Brandon College who took part in the First World War.

* The Arts West Travelling Gallery -- The travelling gallery will be at the Neepawa Arts Council.

* Western Manitoba Centennial Auditorium -- Brush Strokes' 28th exhibition will take place in the foyer until Dec. 18. This group exhibition is by Brandon Palette Club and Friends (Souris, Hamiota, Virden art clubs and Carberry artists).
