TEL-NT, a subsidiary of Telmar (News - Alert) Network Technology and leader of third-party multi-vendor repair for telecommunications networks and equipment, has been selected by Telefônica to provide multi-vendor repair services and management of its spare parts program for its optical, data and wireline networks in São Paulo state, Brazil.

As part of the pact, TEL-NT will provide network-wide repair at Latin America’s largest independent laboratory located in Valinhos, Brazil.

Officials with TEL-NT said the company in addition to repair services, has also expanded its storage capacity by opening nine spare depots in São Paulo state, Brazil to manage quick access to and rapid deployment of 130,000 spare parts to Telefônica’s networks across all São Paulo state.

Company officials said that TEL-NT’s spare depots will be located in Araçatuba, Bauru, Presidente Prudente, Ribeirão Preto, Santos, São José dos Campos, São José do Rio Preto, São Paulo and Sorocaba.

“We’re honored that Telefônica has chosen TEL-NT to manage its repair and logistics for their Brazilian market,” said Steven Pickett, president and CEO of TEL-NT, in a statement.

Pickett said the company’s cost-effective services and delivery efficiencies will ensure that Telefônica’s customers experience the same high-quality services they depend on.

“The services provided to Telefônica are turnkey: if a defective board is sent in for repair, we can provide a board from storage for quick deployment. This will ensure that Telefônica’s service continuity is not disrupted,” said Franklin Jimenez, CALA Operation Director for TEL-NT.

Back in June, Telmar Network Technology announced that it has introduced the Telmar Flash Drive which provides a solid state, flash memory solution for Hard Disk and Magneto Optical Drive replacements.

The Telmar Flash Drive utilizes proven SCSI drive architecture and industry-standard Compact Flash Card technology, allowing service providers to have a quick-to-install, low-cost replacement for any system or platform in their legacy systems. The Telmar Flash Drive’s configurable firmware matches legacy system software. The cost-efficient solid state solution with Compact Flash memory provides lower power consumption, noise and heat, which makes it less likely to fail than a standard hard drive and more reliable with reduced, unplanned downtime.
