Telefonica Picks TEL-NT to Manage Repair and Logistics for its Brazilian Market

Telefonica (News - Alert), a communication conglomerate, has picked TEL-NT, a company offering third-party multi-vendor repair for telecommunications networks and equipment, to manage its repair and logistics for their Brazilian market.



According to a press release, Telmar (News - Alert) Network Technology’s subsidiary TEL-NT will provide multi-vendor repair services and management of its spare parts program for Telefonica’s optical, data and wireline networks in Sao Paulo state, Brazil. The network-wide repair will be provided at Latin America's largest independent laboratory located in Valinhos, Brazil.

TEL-NT’s solutions maintain and sustain the life of critical network equipment network-wide multi-vendor repair, spare parts management, and extended life hardware and services solutions.

According to a source, TEL-NT repairs a wide range of network, enterprise, CPE and testing equipment in a live, test environment at its state-of-the-art facility in Valinhos, Brazil. It also provides critical products and services to the Latin America communications market including spares management, legacy product development and enhancements that result in significant operational and capital expenditure (CAPEX) savings.

Apart from providing repair services to Telefonica, TEL-NT has expanded the storage capacity by opening nine spare depots in Sao Paulo state, Brazil to manage quick access to and rapid deployment of 130,000 spare parts to Telefanica's networks across all Sao Paulo state.

According to a press release, TEL-NT's spare depots will be located in Araatuba, Bauru, Presidente Prudente, Ribeiro Preto, Santos, Sao Jose dos Campos, Sao Jose do Rio Preto, Sao Paulo and Sorocaba.

“We're honored that Telefonica has chosen TEL-NT to manage its repair and logistics for their Brazilian market," said Steven Pickett, president and CEO of TEL-NT, in a statement. "Our cost-effective services and delivery efficiencies will ensure that Telefonica's customers experience the same high-quality services they depend on."

"The services provided to Telefonica are turnkey: if a defective board is sent in for repair, we can provide a board from storage for quick deployment. This will ensure that Telefonica's service continuity is not disrupted," said Franklin Jimenez, CALA Operation Director for TEL-NT, in a statement.

The Telefonica Group's main companies in the national territory are Telefonica Brasil (Vivo and Telesp Integration), Atento (call center) and Terra (internet provider and portal).

In March 2011, Cesar Alierta, president of Telefônica Group Global, had announced R$ 24,3 billion in investments during 2011-2014 on network expansion and modernization, as well as the launch of innovative services and products relating to telephony and broadband based on wireline, wireless and subscription TV (including residential optical fiber networks) technologies.
