GarrettCom Receives $1M Order From Brazilian Power Company

GarrettCom, a company providing cost-effective, off-the-shelf Industrial networking products for specialty and stressed applications, announced it has signed a $1 million order with a reputed power company in Brazil. GarrettCom (News - Alert) claims that this is the largest purchase order that the company has booked in South America to date.


 
As per the terms of the order, GarrettCom will be delivering several configurations of substation-hardened Magnum 6K Ethernet Managed Switches, along with the company's MNS-6K-SECURE premium network management software with enhanced security features and professional services.
 
"This order represents a significant milestone in GarrettCom's global growth strategy," said Frank Madren, president at GarrettCom.
 
"With the growth of global demand for industrial networking solutions, GarrettCom is leveraging our expertise in the electric power market and our core industrial switch and router technology platforms into an expanded number of geographic markets. Brazil and other South American countries are a targeted region for us," added Madren.
 
Established in 1989, GarrettCom is a privately held company specializing in feature-rich, high-availability heavy duty Industrial networking products. The company’s products are sold through OEMs and resellers to customers globally. GarrettCom offers a modular, 61850-compliant substation-hardened line of switches and routers that can be easily configured.
 
GarrettCom’s 6K series of Ethernet Managed Switches are used specially in the industrial Ethernet applications on the factory floor, power plant, telecom central office, or wiring closet. They features fiber rich and modular Switches that can be configured with AC or DC power. The switches come with the MNS-6K software and have S-Ring software for redundancy management. These switches come with options of power Source including 24V DC Power, 48V DC Power and 125V DC Power.
 
The company's MNS-6K-SECURE software includes features such as RADIUS IEEE (News - Alert) 802.1x for controlling access to the network, TACACS+ for securing log-in to configure devices, multi-level priorities for packets, Syslog capabilities for logging events and consolidating logs, SNTP Server to synchronize time across multiple network devices and secure remote Web access using SSH and SSL.
 
According to the company, shipment of the order will happen in the fourth quarter of 2008.
