Intec (News - Alert), which specializes in Business Support System (BSS) solutions and caters to over 60 of the world’s top 100 telecoms operators, already made its presence felt in many Latin American countries. With signing a multi-million dollar deal, the world leader in BSS solutions strengthened its grip over the telecom market in Colombia, one of the top five telecom markets in Latin America.
In a press release, Intec, which aspires to become the world’s most trusted supplier of BSS solutions, announced a multimillion dollar contract with a leading Colombian operator. Under the agreement, the Colombian operator is going to leverage Intec’s Wholesale Business Management Suite, including InterconnecT, Intec Roaming and Inter-mediatE. The selection, announced Intec, was driven by the need for convergent products able to support the demands of next-generation networks and the services they enable.
Following a “single vendor, single solution model” to minimize the duplication of reference data, Intec strives to improve its clients’ overall revenue assurance.
Intec’s current customers include such industry leaders as: AT&T, Aircel, Asia Pacific Telecommunications, Best Buy (News - Alert), Bharti, Cable & Wireless, Celcom Axiata, China Mobile, China Unicom, Claro, Cox Communications, Deutsche Telekom, Digicel, Eircom, Exatel, France Telecom, Grameenphone, Hutchison 3G, Nextel, O2 (News - Alert), Orange, Qualcomm, Reliance, SingTel Optus, T-Mobile, Talk Talk, TerreStar, Telefonica, Telekom Malaysia, Telecom New Zealand, US Cellular, Verizon, VimpelCom, Virgin Mobile (News - Alert), Vivo and Vodafone.
According to the company, its Intec InterconnecT will consolidate the operations of numerous systems onto a unified platform that will perform the rating, settlement and traffic management of fixed, mobile and long distance usage. Intec Roaming, which leverages the same wholesale rating engine as InterconnecT, will minimize the impact on operational resources while maximizing the knowledge share. Intec Roaming will provide a cost-effective unified solution for all traffic types: voice, SMS and data; in accordance with GSMA (News - Alert) standards.
Inter-mediatE will collect traffic from all the diverse network elements and perform the necessary validations, filtering, enrichment, duplicate detection and correlation required prior to distributing the data to post processing systems, including InterconnecT. The product’s robust functionality and its deployment on low-cost commodity hardware are expected to return a rapid ROI and an overall lower cost of ownership.
“Colombia is considered by analysts as one of the top five telecom markets in Latin America. We see great potential for Intec’s solutions as the local and regional operators evolve their service offerings and infrastructure. We are very pleased with this latest contract, and look forward to enabling operational modernization and service improvements throughout Colombia,” said Ian Watterson, VP of Intec Americas.
