Allworx has partnered with ScanSource (News - Alert), an international value-added distributor of specialty technology products, to offer its innovative IP-based phone systems in Latin America and the Caribbean.

As part of the pact, ScanSource Latin America will carry the entire Allworx product line that consists of its VoIP premise-based key systems and PBX (News - Alert) systems.

Officials with Allworx said that the products serve a range of business sizes — from Small Office/Home Office (SO/HO) environments, up to those with 250 users. They also provide a complete IP solution for end users.

“Given the expansion of the Central American Free Trade Agreement, we expect an increased number of businesses to have a presence in both Central America and the United States. ScanSource is already a very important partner for us in the United States, through its ScanSource Communications sales unit, and has a solid presence in the entire Latin American marketplace,” said Chris Hasenauer, president of Allworx (News - Alert), in a statement.

Hasenauer said that as part of the strategy with ScanSource, the company is refocusing its products and marketing for resale in Latin American countries such as Colombia and Mexico, as well as in other markets that adhere to U.S.-based standards, including Costa Rica and the Dominican Republic.

Company officials pointed out that working with ScanSource Latin America, Allworx has already appointed and trained several third party resellers in the region.

“Allworx is a natural fit for our customer base,” said Elias Botbol, president of ScanSource Latin America.

Botbol said that through the company’s significant presence in Mexico and expansion into many countries in Latin America, the company believes there is great opportunity for resellers looking to offer Allworx communications solutions.

TMCnet in January reported that Allworx has selected Prime Telecommunications, Inc. of Skokie, Ill. as its authorized dealer.

Allworx is a subsidiary of PAETEC (News - Alert) Holding Corp., which develops Internet Protocol-based (IP) phone systems that deliver new capabilities and efficiency to small and medium-size businesses (SMB).

The product line includes the Allworx 6x and 48x systems, Px 6/2 Port Expander, and Allworx 9224 phone and Tx 92/24 Expander, 9212 and 9202 phones along with a series of software options.

Providing small and medium businesses in the Chicago metropolitan area with telecommunications solutions since 1993, Prime Telecommunications has been at the forefront of converting existing clients to innovative technologies.

When Nortel (News - Alert) Networks declared bankruptcy and was sold to Avaya in 2009 Prime Telecommunications began looking for a new manufacturer to install.
