Glowpoint, Inc recently announced a multi-year agreement with Columbus Business Solutions, a leading network provider within the Caribbean. The partnership will enable Glowpoint (News - Alert), a provider of cloud managed video services, to extend its advanced suite of cloud hosted video services within the Latin American and Caribbean markets.

Under the terms of the agreement, Columbus will offer government and business customers in the region with the Columbus Cloud Video Conferencing fully cloud hosted service. The service offering will support on-demand visual communication calling between almost any mobile and desktop-based videoconferencing solution. Based on the Glowpoint Virtual Video Room (VVR) offering, the Columbus Cloud Video Conferencing solution will be delivered and supported over the OpenVideo cloud.

In a release, John Reid, president and Chief Operating Officer of Columbus Communications, said that, "Our partnership with Glowpoint positions us to offer cloud services that will allow our customers to easily adopt video without investing in on-premise infrastructure and support. It will also allow our customers to create connected communities of interest and collaborate over video in real-time, whenever they need to. The combination of our extensive, reliable network and the OpenVideo cloud will deliver high quality visual communication experiences that will drive usage of video as an alternative to travelling."

The Columbus Cloud Video Service has been designed to deliver multi-party videoconferences support covering literally any standards based room, desktop, and mobile video solution within the market. Furthermore the service also supports iPhones, iPads, and Android (News - Alert) devices, and can offer audio only support. Once the service is in place, users will simply need to dial into meetings by entering a private, six-digit access code. Once in, the user can then share content that includes PowerPoint presentations and rich media easily.

Darren Podrabsky, vice president of Marketing and Channels for Glowpoint, said that, "OpenVideo is designed to provide high quality, reliable cloud videoconferencing for the widest range of video solutions, anywhere in the world. We are confident that our cloud will serve Columbus customers well, and we are excited about this partnership."

The OpenVideo cloud incorporates advanced software, video delivery and management technologies, as well as networking technologies, which enables it to ensure high-quality flexible and reliable cloud managed video services for customers.
