Mobile Broadband has really taken off in recent years. One of the most promising things about mobile broadband is that you can access the Internet wherever you like. 3G services has given a boost to mobile Internet usage.
This report is part of the Mobile & Wireless Communications Growth Partnership Services program. The new analysis says the market earned revenue of $79.56 billion in 2011 and projects this will reach $112.97 billion in 2017 at a compound annual growth rate of 6 percent, mainly driven by the increasing relevance of mobile broadband and value added services.
The report discusses mobile broadband services markets, mobile enterprise services markets, mobile content markets and machine-to-machine services markets in Latin America.
"Investments in next-generation technologies will stoke the introduction of several attractive services and applications for end users," said Frost & Sullivan Telecom Services Team Leader Renato Pasquini.
Mobile broadband can replace fixed broadband for a large percentage of the population, opening a vast market for mobile service providers.
The telecom operators in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia and Mexico have already upgraded their networks to 3.5G, while others are conducting trials of 3.5G and 4G.
"The mobile broadband service is demanding huge investments in backbone, backhaul and other network elements," noted Pasquini. "Mobile operators will need to develop plans that do not excessively affect the network usage, while addressing customers' niche service needs."
