Getty Images, a leading creator and distributor of still images, videos, and other multimedia products, announced today that the company has acquired complete ownership of G&S Imagens do Brasil, its third party distributor in Brazil.
"As worldwide demand for content across multiple channels and platforms continues to increase, we are delighted to strengthen our ability to fully serve the Brazilian market," Jonathan Klein, Getty Images co-founder and Chief Executive Officer, said in a statment as seen on PR Newswire (News - Alert).
"The need for both local and global content remains strong in Brazil and across Latin America, as the region continues to develop and grow. This acquisition will further enhance our geographic presence as well as our ability to better serve customers in the region and around the world, with a greater choice of innovative and inspiring content."
G&S Imagens has been working with Getty Images since 2008 as its primary distributor in the country, and has been a key contributor to Getty Images’ success in the region. The purchase of G&S will provide customers in Brazil with a greater selection of high quality and relevant creative and editorial content than ever before, as well as offer services like photo assignments to lead toward greater success. The purchase is also assures in-depth coverage of the 2014 FIFA World Cup and 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games in Brazil.
The news comes shortly after it was announced on Monday that Getty Images will be partnering up with Percolate to help the startup provide a broader selection of photos for companies to share without worrying about copyright infringement.
Getty Images serves business customers in more than 100 countries and is the first place creative and media professionals turn to purchase images and other digital content.
