NII Holdings to Launch the BlackBerry Curve 8350i Smartphone in Latin America

NII Holdings, Inc. has announced that Nextel Argentina, Nextel Brazil, Nextel Mexico, and Nextel Peru will be offering the BlackBerry (News - Alert) Curve 8350i smartphone, the first BlackBerry smartphone in Latin America.



A unique combination of services and features along with Nextel’s Push-to-Talk (PTT) service, email, messaging capabilities, Web access, productivity applications and rich multimedia capabilities are included in the device.
 
NII Holdings (News - Alert) provides mobile communications for business customers and offers integrated wireless communications tools with digital cellular voice service, data services, wireless Internet access and Nextel Direct Connect and International Direct Connect which is a digital two-way radio feature.
 
This specific device will include Wi-Fi and 128 MB of internal memory and is most suitable for mobile business users, said Nextel.
 
The BlackBerry Curve 8350i smartphone along with the Push-to-Talk service enables optimum communication between NII subscribers and millions of iDEN subscribers in North and South America. It also enables easy access to corporate and personal email and the device features a 2 megapixel camera, a 128 MB memory, GPS and an expandable memory slot for more storage as required by business owners.

Mark Guibert, Vice President of Corporate Marketing at RIM pointed out that the BlackBerry Curve 8350i smartphone combines the advantages of Push-to-Talk service and the full power of the BlackBerry platform, optimizing the communications experience.

The device integrates organizations' IT networks and includes advanced security features like AES, Triple DES encryption and password protection, offering business grade functionality.

The BlackBerry Curve 8350i smartphone’s file storage capabilities also enable users to carry a large volume of content such as PDFs, images and music along with them.
