America Movil (AMX) is a provider of wireless services in Latin America. Nokia deals in mobile telecommunications and is a maker of mobile devices.

The agreement with Nokia will make AMX the first Latin American operator to bring Nokia Messaging solution to the customers. AMX has stated that it has realized that messaging is going to grow exponentially in Latin America and the company will be leading the growth. Collaborating with Nokia was one of the company’s strategies to maintain its top position.

Blanca Juti, Nokia vice president for the America Movil Account, said: "We are delighted to make this announcement with America Movil. This collaboration is a good example of how Nokia is extending its vision of 'Connecting People'. Together with America Movil, Nokia Messaging will deliver on the promise of mobile messaging for everyone in the region."

With Nokia Messaging solution AMX customers can mobilize multiple email accounts in a single application via an intuitive user interface while on the move. The messaging solution is easy to set up and allows access up to 10 personal email accounts. To mobilize their email account, all users have to enter are their email address and password, and emails are seamlessly pushed to their preferred Nokia device. Nokia Messaging also makes it simple to read, send, forward and reply to emails, download and read attachments, and attach files to emails directly on their Nokia device.

With Nokia Messaging, people get the benefit of real time messaging and are able to read, send, forward and reply to emails, view subfolders, download and read attachments and also attach files to emails in real time using a Nokia device. The Nokia Messaging service offers all consumers a chance to enjoy push email services on their phones, previously only available to business users with corporate email.

America Movil and Nokia have agreed to launch Nokia Messaging first in five countries this summer with the Nokia E63, Nokia E71 Black, Nokia E72 and Nokia E75. The devices will be offered with attractive plans together with AMX and will include license for Nokia Messaging.

Nokia has stated that they are already getting great response on their smartphones which focus on mobility from Latin American users. The company adds that the market is also showing strong interest in advanced features like messaging, music, GPS and cameras. Users are getting enhanced multimedia experience faster from their extended collaboration with AMX.

America Movil and Nokia had already forged a partnership to offer location based services to Latin American subscribers who buy Nokia-GPS enabled phones.
