Qualcomm Incorporated and America Movil have joined hands to deploy Qualcomm's (News - Alert) Plaza Mobile Internet to power America Movil's Ideas Widget service. The service will be available across America Movil’s 18 subsidiaries in Latin America, thereby reaching more than 190 million wireless subscribers.
According to Noam Raffaelli, managing director of Plaza Mobile Internet, the company believes that providing end users with a method to extend their online lives to mobile devices will help drive mobile Internet use and create additional revenue opportunities for America Movil.
Raffaelli also said that Qualcomm is using its expertise in building strong publisher and developer ecosystems to ensure that America Movil can deliver targeted content to its subscribers throughout Latin America.
Plaza Mobile Internet from Qualcomm is an end-to-end widget platform that will allow America Movil to provide its end users with immediate access to customizable Internet content from mobile devices across their device portfolio.
The offering also enables publishers to develop widgets quickly and easily using open Web standards and tools. Publishers and content providers will be able to develop and submit their creations to America Movil's widget catalog through this solution.
In addition, users will also be able to download and manage an array of rich, customizable content, either from their device or online.
Viral distribution avenues are also introduced to allow subscriber input and feedback about widgets and content.
