TelCell St. Maarten has increased its customers’ roaming minutes by more than 47,000 per month after implementing Starhome’s (News
) solutions. In fact, TelCell is expecting an annual revenue increase in the range of $1 million. Starhome provides roaming services for mobile network operators.
According to Amit Daniel, vice president of Marketing at Starhome, the company is pleased to have become a key contributor to TelCell St. Maarten’s drive to provide its customers with premium mobile communication systems. The Starhome portfolio includes a variety of international roaming services and core network solutions across various technologies.
Starhome’s Home Short Code Solution and Intelligent Call Assistant Solution were launched by TelCell to generate roaming revenue and improve service quality for inbound roamers.
The Intelligent Call Assistant from Starhome utilizes roaming intelligence to analyze and correct roamers' misdialed calls. In fact, statistics based on live services show that up to 60 percent of these calls are never redialled. This results in operators loosing potential revenue.
By correcting and completing more calls, operators will be able to generate lost revenues and visitor traffic while increasing user satisfaction. Home Short Code was implemented to enable inbound roamers to continue using familiar, home-based short codes to access their value added services, or “VAS,” while roaming in St. Maarten.
According to Brian Mingo, General Manager at TelCell St. Maarten, the expertise, track record as well as the completeness of its solution led to the selection of Starhome. The new roaming technology enables TelCell to increase its market share among large networks and also secure its roaming revenues.
Mingo also said that TelCell has achieved an average of about 47,000 additional roaming minutes per month since choosing Starhome. This is equal to an increase in the range of $1 million dollars in revenue annually. TelCell St. Maarten is the mobile services division of the St. Maarten Group of Telephone Companies.
Almost half of the island’s telephony revenue is derived from inbound roamers. The solutions from Starhome helped TelCell to establish the infrastructure needed to maximize the revenue from roaming. The solutions delivered as a managed service consist of the latest technology, Starhome’s expertise as well as 24/7 performance monitoring.
