Acision, a provider of mobile messaging solutions, said Digitel GSM, a mobile network operator in Venezuela, has selected Acision (News - Alert) Content Control to protect customers from receiving fraudulent messages and to safeguard their privacy.

Acision Content Control detects unsolicited spam messages and controls messages received from other providers, the company said. By managing both Short Message Peer to Peer (SMPP) and Signaling System Number 7 (SS7) traffic, the Acision solution controls both network and application based unsolicited messages.

Additionally, the solution includes a ‘third party aliasing’ by which it protects user’s identity from being captured preventing their number from being used to fraudulently send unsolicited messages.

By offering these solutions, Acision provides Digitel’s customers the security and freedom from unsolicited spam that can range from simple annoying messages to more serious issues of fraud. The enhanced security measures will have a positive impact on the overall quality of service offered by the company.

“With the deployment of Acision Content Control, we are able to guarantee the security of our customers on the network,” said an official spokesperson at Digitel GSM. “We will be able to detect fraudulent messages and block un-solicited messages.”
Digitel, Venezuela's first Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM) operator, has been offering short messaging services (SMS) since 1999. According to a media statement from Digitel, Venezuelans are the biggest users of SMS throughout the Latin American region, with the average user sending 8 messages a day.
Acision Content Control will help Digitel to continue its established role as a provider of innovative messaging solutions in the market, hopes the company.
“In addition to offering a solution that increases the security of Digitel customers and eliminating inconvenient spam messages, Acision Content Control contributes to cost reductions as a result of the automated traffic monitoring,” said Eduardo Bueno, Acision's vice president of Sales and Marketing for Latin America.
Acision has created a partnership-based ecosystem -- Acision Innovation Network – to enable the global communications community to collaborate on the creation of new applications and services. Mobispine (News - Alert), a provider of PC-to-mobile solutions to mobile service providers, recently joined the ecosystem, according to a news report.
